Storage is requested for two very different reasons: making an existing machine faster, and making sure business data survives a failure. They call for different hardware, and it is worth being clear which one you are solving.

Typical business use
The highest-value storage request we handle is still the simplest: replacing the mechanical drive in an otherwise serviceable computer with a solid-state drive. It frequently buys another two or three years from hardware that was about to be replaced. The second is a proper backup target for a business currently relying on one copy of everything.
